Engineered Solutions

End-to-End Power Distribution

PwrQ’s Engineered Solutions bring together decades of power systems experience, deep technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to solve complex infrastructure challenges. Our in-house electrical and application engineering teams design systems that span the complete single-line diagram—from utility service entrance to the point of load—ensuring every component and connection is optimized for performance, safety, and long-term reliability.

We specialize in engineering power systems for mission-critical environments where uptime and scalability are non-negotiable. Whether supporting a hyperscale data center, a hospital campus, or a high-demand industrial facility, our engineers work closely with customers, contractors, and consultants to deliver systems that meet strict technical specifications, compliance standards, and fast-paced construction schedules.

Our approach is both product- and solution-oriented. We leverage our full line of in-house manufactured equipment—including low voltage switchboards, PDUs, RPPs, panelboards, and ATS units—while integrating vendor-agnostic components from our trusted partners when needed. This flexibility allows us to design each system to meet project-specific needs while ensuring consistency, quality, and rapid execution across the board.

With every engineered solution, PwrQ prioritizes seamless system integration, modularity, and future scalability. We think beyond the gear—factoring in utility coordination, load growth, operational constraints, and long-term maintenance—to deliver systems that perform on day one and evolve with your facility over time.

Data centers are essential to supporting the digital operations that drive today’s economy, and ensuring reliable uptime is critical for uninterrupted service. The Uptime Institute developed a four-tier classification to standardize data center resilience, with each tier indicating a different level of reliability, redundancy, and uptime availability. This guide explains each tier and how it supports diverse operational needs.

View Open positions

Tier I: Basic Capacity

Tier I data centers provide essential infrastructure with minimal redundancy. Often consisting of a single power and cooling path, Tier I facilities can experience downtime during planned maintenance or unexpected failures.

  • Uptime: 99.671% (up to 28.8 hours of downtime per year)
  • Best for: Non-critical applications with minimal uptime needs

Tier II: Redundant Components

Tier II data centers incorporate some redundancy to essential components, improving reliability over Tier I by enabling partial backup during maintenance. While they still rely on a single distribution path, they offer more operational stability than Tier I.

  • Uptime: 99.741% (up to 22 hours of downtime per year)
  • Best for: Small and medium-sized organizations needing moderate uptime.

Tier III: Concurrently Maintainable

Tier III data centers are built for high availability, featuring multiple power and cooling distribution paths. This setup allows facilities to perform maintenance on critical components without disrupting operations, meeting the demands of industries that rely on continuous uptime.

  • Uptime: 99.982% (up to 1.6 hours of downtime per year)
  • Best for: Organizations requiring high availability, such as e-commerce and finance.

Tier IV: Fault Tolerant

Tier IV represents the highest reliability standard. These data centers have fully redundant systems with independent paths, ensuring continuous operation even during component failures or planned maintenance. Tier IV is ideal for industries with stringent uptime requirements, such as healthcare, finance, and government.

  • Uptime: 99.995% (up to 26.3 minutes of downtime per year)
  • Best for: Mission-critical applications where downtime is not an option
